There are 3 types of business as per ownership:
- Single or Sole Proprietorship
- Partnership
- Corporation
These are the steps and requirements to be able to start a business in the Philippines:
Single Proprietorship
- Register a business name with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)
- Secure and pay Barangay Clearance in your place of business
- Apply for a Business Permit in the Municipal Office where your business is located and pay the corresponding fees.
- Register your business with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) using the form 1901
Partnerships and Corporations
- Register your business with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
- Submit Articles of Partnership or Articles of Incorporation and by-laws for Corporations
- Secure and pay Barangay Clearance in your place of business
- Apply for a Business Permit in the Municipal Office where your business is located and pay the corresponding fees.
- Register your business with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) using the form 1902
- Register your business with the SSS, Philhealth and Pag-ibig as employer and submit the list of your employees
