Starting a Business in the Philippines


There are 3 types of business as per ownership:
  • Single or Sole Proprietorship
  • Partnership
  • Corporation
These are the steps and requirements to be able to start a business in the Philippines:

Single Proprietorship
  • Register a business name with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)
  • Secure and pay Barangay Clearance in your place of business
  • Apply for a Business Permit in the Municipal Office where your business is located and pay the corresponding fees.
  • Register your business with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) using the form 1901

Partnerships and Corporations
  • Register your business with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
  • Submit Articles of Partnership or Articles of Incorporation and by-laws for Corporations
  • Secure and pay Barangay Clearance in your place of business
  • Apply for a Business Permit in the Municipal Office where your business is located and pay the corresponding fees.
  • Register your business with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) using the form 1902
  • Register your business with the SSS, Philhealth and Pag-ibig as employer and submit the list of your employees
